While on the R&D Diet Cookie Weight Loss Program, for your evening meal, swap that cup of pasta for a cup of vegetables. You can save from 100-200 calories if you reduce the portion of starch on your plate and increase the amount of vegetables.
The calorie savings is important but it is even more important that the vegetables will promote fat burning while the pasta promotes fat storage and hunger by increasing insulin levels in your blood.

Always have R&D Diet Cookies on hand for a healthy snack.
Having ready-to-eat snacks always on hand sets you up for success. You'll be less likely to go to the drive-through or grab a bag of chips or candy if you have a healthy snack available that will not only curb that hunger but also any associated cravings that go along with it!
Other snacks, even when they sound healthy, may actually promote hunger so it is always safer to reach for an R&D Diet Cookie.

Success Story From An R&D Diet Cookie Customer!
I love sharing GOOD NEWS with all of you! I received the following email yesterday from a very dear, repeat customer out of Garland, TX. ...
Thank you so much, Dorothy, for your wonderful cookies!
Thanks to your cookies, I have met my goal of losing 20 lbs by my
69th birthday, which is today. I just made my goal today. I cut it so
close that I didn't think I was going to make it.
I started your Cookie Diet on Memorial Day and now weigh 196.
Can't tell you how happy I am to be under 200. And I have complete
confidence that I will keep on meeting my goals.
I'm a turtle, not a hare. I just keep on keeping on until I get there.
I've hit plateaus and I've taken a few little detours, but I got right
back on the Cookie path. And every day, I ate some cookies,
even when I cheated, because I knew they would help me and,
besides, they're sooo good! The cookies are a good habit now.
I'm setting a new goal of 20 more lbs by November 19. I'll be so
motivated by then, I'm confident that I'll be able to handle the holidays much
better than I ever have.
So glad I found your cookies. They are so much better for me than any of
the other cookies. I'm feeling good - blood pressure is perfect - life is
good on the R&D cookie diet.
Thanks again, Dorothy.A.W., Garland, TX

R&D Diet Cookies Are Several Mini'Meals Eaten During The Day
You try to eat fewer calories each day with the goal of losing weight. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. But when you're hungry all the time, eating fewer calories can be challenging. Usually it is the number 2 reason for failing at your diet (number 1 is cravings).
Experts suggest people eat 4 to 5 mini meals or snacks per day in order to control their appetite and weight.
Your R&D Diet Cookies satisfy this "mini meal" suggestion plus they have the added advantage of being a natural appetite and craving suppresant because of their proprietary ingredients.
Enjoy your cookies as small meals or snacks during the day. Dinner should be the last time you eat.

How Can You Tell If It's Really Hunger?
Whenever you feel like eating you should look for the physical signs of hunger in order to determine if it really is hunger. Hunger is your body's way of telling you that you need fuel. So if you eat for any other reason rather than hunger you won't actually be satisfying your desire to eat and you can end up overeating and taking in too many calories.
Your stomach is only the size of your fist so it takes only 1 or 2 R&D Diet Cookies to fill it comfortably. Keeping this in mind will help get you more in touch with your feelings of hunger and fullness and will help you learn how to maintain after you lose the weight.
When you're done eating, you should feel better and satisfied -- not stuffed, bloated, or tired.

Diet Tip - Drink Plenty of Calorie-Fre Beverages
You can help keep your daily calories low while you are on the R&D Diet Cookie weight loss program by drinking plenty of water or other calorie-free beverages.
People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. So you can end up eating extra calories when an ice-cold glass of water is really what you need.
If you don't like plain water, try adding a splash of lemon or other juice, or brew infused teas like peach, which have lots of flavor but no calories.

Diet Tip to Tame a Sweet Tooth
Here's a simple suggestion to cut calories while on the R&D Diet Cookie weight loss program...
After a meal, I tame my sweet tooth by leisurely drinking a cup of hot, fruit-flavored tea sweetened with artificial sweetener (Splenda).

Who's In Control of Your Life?
It’s your life so you need to decide what you are going to do with it. If you don’t run your own life, someone else will.
If you make your own decisions, you are in control of your life. If you let others make decisions for you, you give up control. If you control the decision, you control the action.
Take charge of your life so there is no need to ask permission of others. When you ask permission you are giving someone veto power over your life.
One decision you can take control of is your eating habits. Don’t let your eating habits control you! Take control back by using R&D Diet Cookies.
Only you are responsible for your life so take control and start making those decisions.
How to Safely Lose Weight Fast
What's wrong with dropping 20 pounds fast so you can wow your friends and family with a svelte new shape? They do it on The Biggest Loser all the time.
The truth is that nothing is wrong with losing weight rapidly -- as long you do it the right way, says Michael Dansinger, MD. He's the medical doctor for NBC's The Biggest Loser show, which spotlights quick and dramatic weight loss.
"In theory, one could drop as much as 20 pounds in a week following a very ambitious eating and exercise plan, devoting more than seven hours per week to rigorous exercise, and under a physician's care like we do on the television program," he says.
Most of us can't drop everything to go to a weight loss "boot camp" nor can we exercise seven hours per week (wouldn't if I could). We can still safely lose 3 or more pounds a week at home with a healthy diet… and the R&D Diet Cookie program is a healthy diet. The cookies eliminate hunger and cravings so that you can stick to your diet. Since the cookies curb hunger, you can forget the marathon exercising by lowering the number of calories you eat.
In fact, having a goal like looking great at a wedding or reunion can be a great motivator. But don't wait until one week before the reunion to try and lose 10 pounds. You need to plan ahead and allow enough time to make changes to your shape.
Use the R&D Diet Cookies to take care of your hunger so that you can reduce the number of calories you eat and lose weight permanently and quickly.
How to Lose Weight Fast
Losing weight is a simple mathematical formula: You need to burn more calories than you eat. Experts generally recommend creating a deficit of 500 calories per day through a combination of eating fewer calories and increasing physical activity. Over the course of a week, this should yield a loss of about 1-2 pounds of fat. For most of us this is too slow!
Here at R&D Diet Cookie we believe losing weight faster is a great motivator and if you are otherwise healthy, there is no reason to lose weight slowly.
If you want to lose weight faster, you'll need to eat less and/or exercise more. On this type of plan, you can expect to lose 3-5 pounds the first week, or more if you weigh over 250 pounds. We don't require (or even recommend) exercising while on the R&D Diet Cookie program because it is simply not necessary and could actually hinder results. If you must exercise, make sure you are not compensating the calories burned by eating more!
Dieters who follow the plan can lose 2 pounds each week, and even more if they have more to lose, because the more fat you have to lose, the faster it comes off.
You may lose even more weight initially if you limit carbohydrates. A recent study conducted by R&D Diet Cookie showed that combining the R&D Diet Cookie with a low-carb diet such as Atkins resulted in greater weight loss than simply dieting alone.
Dieting is Best For Fast Weight Loss
When it comes to weight loss, calories count the most. We recommend around 800 to 1000 calories per day while on the R&D Diet Cookies weight loss program. Dietitians more typically recommend 1,200 calories as a daily minimum but here at R&D Diet Cookie we think “quicker is better”. Of course, some days you will simply want more calories and on those days you should! The number one rule is to never go hungry.
R&D Diet Cookie advocates a diet that minimizes starches, (even healthy whole grains should be controlled), and added sugars. For rapid weight loss, dieters should eat mainly fruits, veggies, egg whites, soy products, skinless poultry breasts, fish, shellfish, nonfat dairy foods, and 95% lean meat.
There are other ways to control calories, such as minimizing total fat, but we believe that tends to be more challenging than his suggested weight loss plan. Another way is minimizing carbohydrates which actually proved to be the most effective way to lose weight using the R&D Diet Cookies.
Other experts recommend tactics including drinking lots of water, eating plenty of protein, and keeping a food journal.
Eat enough protein to minimize muscle loss and maximize fat loss. It’s also a good idea to swap out carbs in favor of veggies.
Weighing yourself daily and tracking your food intake can also help you keep focused, experts say.
You Don't Have To Exercise In Order To Lose Weight
R&D Diet Cookie absolutely does NOT believe in exercising for fast weight loss! Exercise can make you feel good but it won’t actually help you lose more weight. It could, if you have the will-power to not eat more to compensate for the calories you burned while exercising but that is unlikely to happen. Your body works at maintaining an equilibrium between the amount of food you eat and your level of activity. That means, if you eat less it tells you to sit on the couch and watch TV in order to burn less. If you eat more than you need, it tells you to go do chores (or some other activity) in order to burn some of it off. It's the same with exercising... if you go to the gym and burn more calories, your body will tell you to eat more!
You have heard the phrase “work up an appetite”. That is what our bodies are doing when we exercise. You burn a few calories but your body wants you to replenish them. The way your body makes you replenish them is by becoming hungry! You eat more because you are hungry because you exercised! What a cycle!
So don’t feel bad for not including exercise in your weight loss program. It’s actually better not too! There is plenty to time (and good reasons) to add exercise to your life after you lose weight.
Behavior Modification
Habits, good and bad, are formed by repetition. Eating habits are no exception. If you are in the habit of snacking when you watch TV, you were reinforcing that habit until finally it became a part of you. Other habits are formed in the same way. Some of these habits could be: eating while reading, eating the minute you come in the house, eating when the kids come in from school, or eating while cooking dinner.
We also find that certain moods such as anger, boredom, loneliness, happiness, nervousness cause us to eat even if we are not hungry. The list is endless. Habits are hard to break. We must not only break old habits, but we must make our goal to form new ones in the same manner through repetition. Make some daily commitments. Work to meet these commitments each day whether you feel like it or not.

Resisting temptation is difficult. However, if you succeed in resisting the first time, it becomes easier to resist the next time. In a way, eating is like an addiction to cigarettes… there’s two parts to the addiction, one is the physical addition (the habit of eating) and the other is the chemical dependency which would be like the hunger or cravings. R&D Diet Cookie can take care of the hunger and cravings but you still have to work on the habit of eating.
Try substituting another activity for between meal snacking. If you are in the habit of going straight to the kitchen and eating every time you walk in the house, try to change this habit by going to another room of the house when you come home. Better yet, eat an R&D Diet Cookie on your way home. It will take away away your hunger so you can break the habit of automatically eating when you get home.

Keep A Positive Attitude!
Once you have made up your mind to lose weight, you should make that commitment and go into it with a positive attitude. We all know that losing weight can be quite a challenge. In fact, for some, it can be downright tough. It takes time, practice and support to change lifetime habits. But it's a process you must learn in order to succeed. You and you alone are the one who has the power to lose unwanted pounds. Believe me! The R&D Diet Cookie will make it a lot easier but it will still take commitment from you.
Think like a winner, and not a loser - - remember that emotions are like muscles and the ones you use most grow the strongest. If you always look at the negative side of things, you'll become a downbeat, pessimistic person. Even slightly negative thoughts have a greater impact on you and last longer than powerful positive thoughts. For example, don't dwell on the fact that the R&D Diet Cookie doesn't taste like Mrs. Fields cookies... Think about how good they taste for bieing a diet product! Mrs. Fields cookies won't help you lose weight... the R&D Diet Cookie will! Think about how they taste like a muffin top or even a European pastry (not too sweet). Have you ever been to Europe and seen their highly decadent-looking pastries? Your mouth waters as you order the most sinful looking chocolate cake... bite into it... and frown because it's just not as sweet as it looks? Theirs is similar to the sweetness of our cookies. Think of the taste as a healthy muffin top and enjoy them with a cup of flavored coffee and you won't be disappointed!
Negative thinking doesn't do you any good; it just holds you back from accomplishing the things you want to do. When a negative thought creeps into your mind, replace it reminding yourself that you're somebody, you have self-worth and you possess unique strengths and talents. Contemplate what lies ahead of you. Losing weight is not just about diets. It's about a whole new you and the possibility of creating a new life for yourself.

There are success stories across the country today. On television and in newspapers, magazines and tabloids about people who have miraculously lost untold pounds and kept it off. In all instances they say their mental attitude as well as their outlook on life has totally changed.
It Takes Effort to Lose Weight
In order to be successful at losing weight, you must take action. That doesn’t mean it has to be difficult, it means you can’t simply ‘wish’ your weight away.
Nothing is more frustrating than to see that you are gaining weight again.
It pays to be prepared, and that comes down to having a plan that works. It's not always exciting. It's not always fun. It is, however, always necessary. The R&D Diet Cookie can help here. You know it works… you just have to allow it.
By being prepared, you have to create a game plan to get back on track right away without beating yourself up. My game plan is the R&D Diet Cookie. What's yours? Maybe it's taking it a day at a time, going back to your diet tomorrow. Maybe it's getting angry and becoming more determined than ever to succeed.
Have you ever been at a Weight Watchers or TOPS meeting and noticed several people there who are slim and trim? What about those Jenny Craig and Nutri/System ad's with their before and after pictures? They make losing weight look so effortless, but remember, in reality, these people have been dieting for years. And you know something they don’t… the R&D Diet Cookie takes away hunger and cravings so it is actually easier for you to stick to your diet than it was for them to stick to theirs.
Without effort and action, you will not succeed. You can't wish your weight away. You have to work at it and be prepared for those times when you slip, so you can pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and "get right back on the horse".

There is No Such Thing as Cheating
There's no right or wrong way to eat. There will be times when you eat a high-fat meal or eat beyond fullness. This happens. It's normal. But it's very important that you don't get down on yourself and abandon your new healthy lifestyle when this happens.
If you're like most people, your reaction to these diet lapses is guilt. You feel as if all your hard work has been for nothing. "I blew it; I was doing so well. Oh well, I might as well enjoy this weekend and start over on Monday." Or even worse: "I quit." Feeling defeated, many people discontinue their cookie diet and return to their old routine until some mythical time in the future. This kind of scenario is a perfect example of the bad diet mentality at work.
An all-or-nothing attitude is why so many people have so little success; we choose structured programs such as the R&D Diet Cookie because they are easy to follow. A properly designed program makes sense, but expecting to stick to a structured eating plan for an extended period of time without ever deviating makes no sense at all. Life is full of unplanned obstacles, distractions, and temptations. Your best approach is to prepare for them, keeping an open mind and maintaining a positive attitude.
It's very important that you begin your cookie diet with an understanding that there will be days when you will stray from the program. Before you begin, tell yourself that no matter what happens, rather than quitting, you'll resume your cookie diet as soon as you can; it is equally important that you feel confident, not guilty, about doing so. Whatever the temptation or obstacle is, keep in mind that it's not wrong or bad to eat fattening foods once in a while. Just remember to resume your cookie diet. If you keep moving forward and you don't let guilt and discouragement stop your program all together, you'll eventually have improved eating habits and lose the weight you want. Good luck and enjoy all the wonderful benefits of the R&D Diet Cookie.

A Bad Day or Two is Fairly Harmless
Don't expect perfection as you work towards your goal of a healthy and fit lifestyle. Truth is, anyone trying to lose weight and get healthy is going to experience some off days so you may as well expect them and accept them.
It takes about 3,500 calories to gain a pound of weight, so an occasional slip in your R&D Diet Cookie weight loss program won't completely wipe out your efforts. The bigger issue is an inability to cope with the slips.
Here are a few tips that may make those tough times a little easier:
- Let go of perfectionist thinking. Accept that you may have a bad day and slip with your fitness and diet plan once in a while.
- When you feel that your goals are just taking too much time, stop and think clearly about your healthiest options at that moment. And remember "Slips Happen".
- Write out a plan on how you are going to get yourself back on track.
- Do something positive. Go for a walk or get some other form of exercise, or eat something healthier than you had planned.
A bad day or two is fairly harmless. Just do whatever it takes to get back on track. And if it will make you feel better, plan the next day to include foods that are lower in carbs to make up for the slip. And remember, here at R&D Diet Cookie we cherish your business and support you in a healthy lifestyle change.
Cookie Diet - Is It a Fad?
As a scientist and I can tell you that many studies can be interpreted in multiple ways. You can usually find an expert who will agree with every imaginable side of a topic… and that doesn’t only apply to weight loss.
Here is my belief… fast weight loss is better than slow. People do better if they bite the bullet and get down to a weight they desire and then try to maintain it. It's a myth that if you lose weight slowly you do better in the long run. Scientific studies do not support that! For some, yes, but there is a large portion of us who will not stick to a weight loss program if we don't see results quickly.
So called "experts" will tell you that, "Very low calorie diets are usually not sustainable and people usually gain the weight back when they go off the diet and return to old habits."
That’s where the R&D Diet Cookie weight loss program is different. It’s not like other very low calorie diets! It IS sustainable because you are not starving yourself. The cookies keep you feeling satisfied and full and you don’t crave foods. Also, you won’t go back to the way you were eating before. Being on the R&D Diet Cookies teaches you how to eat better, make better choices, and eat less. You can use the cookies to ‘wean’ yourself off the diet so you stay in control and do not gain the weight back.
So, the best way to lose weight is QUICKLY by:
- Replacing 2 meals with the R&D Diet Cookies (also all snacks)
- Eating a low calorie, sensible, balanced dinner
- Don’t ever go hungry! Eat a few more cookies on the days you need to
Once you’ve lost the weight, start cutting back on the cookies and start eating other regular foods like yogurt, fruit or anything else ‘healthy’. I always recommend you start the day with the R&D Diet Cookies. It helps you maintain control and make better choices throughout the day.

Study: Quick Weight Loss Yields Lasting Results
R&D Diet Cookie has always promoted quick weight loss. Here is another study that supports our beliefs:
A study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine suggests that, for obese patients in the initial stages of weight loss, shedding pounds quickly may actually be key to keeping them off.
A study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Medicine suggests that, for obese patients in the initial stages of weight loss, shedding pounds quickly may actually be key to keeping them off.
Researchers at the University of Florida analyzed weight loss information for 262 obese women.
They found that, women who had initially dropped weight most quickly tended to shed more weight overall and maintain the weight loss longer than those who had a more gradual start. Researchers noted that women who had dropped weight more quickly were no more likely to regain that weight than those whose pace had been more moderate.
In the year after the six-month intervention phase, only 17% of women in the slow group had reached their goal, while 36% in the moderate group and 51% in the fast group reached their goals.
The authors sum up:
"... Losing weight at a fast initial rate leads to great short-term weight reduction, does not result in increased susceptibility to weight regain, and is associated with larger weight losses and overall long-term success in weight management."
You Don't Have To Exercise For Weight Loss
The best way to lose weight is by reducing your calories. The easiest way to safely reduce your calories is by using R&D Diet Cookies. I think everyone who has tried them can tell you that they are very good at what they are designed to do… eliminate hunger and cravings so that you can stay on a low calorie diet.
I would not bother with exercise while you are trying to lose weight. Too many changes can be detrimental and if you give up on exercising you may be tempted to give up on your diet too. Exercising will not increase or speed up your weight loss. It may actually slow it down because you may be “working up an appetite” by exercising and end up eating more to compensate without even realizing it. You burn very little calories when you exercise so you can easily compensate by eating a little more.
There is plenty of time to exercise after you lose the weight you want to lose.
Four Common Weight Loss Myths

But are you really aware how safe are these? It is time that you stop and think about your body before taking such medication and supplements. There are many misleading advertisements of “safe” and “clinically proven” doing the rounds of the weight loss circuit. But this could cause grave side effects when taken indiscriminately. Two of such medication and supplements that may pose severe health risks are Advantra Z and Xenadrin EFX!
Continue reading about studies and side effects...
There was a study conducted by the University of California San Francisco, using these medication and supplements. Basically, what they found was that both Advantra Z and Xenadrin resulted in an increase in the heart rate very similar to the side effects that were noticed while using the banned ephedra medication and supplements.
In 2004, FDA had banned ephedra due to its adverse side effects. However UCSF studies reveal that the ephedra-free medications and supplements that are being sold are nothing better. These supplements are equally hazardous to health and could lead to grave problems. People having health concerns like heart ailments or hypertension, should completely avoid these 2 supplements! It might result in worsening their condition.
R&D Diet Cookie will never recommend the use of any medication or supplement to lose weight. You don’t have to use drugs because the R&D Diet Cookie is a natural food that completely eliminates hunger and cravings so that you can stay on your diet and lose weight.
Three 'Healthy' Foods That Really Aren't!
You may not spend your days eating pizza and burgers but there are many foods that sound healthy, maybe even diet-friendly, but when you look closely at them, they are the total opposite.
1. Muffins - A muffin is basically a giant cupcake minus the frosting. Even bran muffins sound healthy but are often full of refined sugar and white flour.
2. Nutrition Bars - Many of the popular brands of nutrition bars are high in saturated fat, refined sugar, and hydrogenated oils. Some of them even contain the calorie equivalent of a candy bar!

A better option would be an R&D Diet Cookie: High in protein, fiber, and whole grains while low in fat and calories. Plus you get the added benefit of satiety with the cookies – keep you feeling fuller longer.
3. Commercial Smoothies - Some of the commercial smoothies use full fat yogurt, ice cream, fruit drinks, syrups, and lots of sugar! cound on 500 plus calories.

Health Tip - Take Natural Vitamin E
A study found that people who have lived to a healthy age 100 were more likely to have dramatically lower rates of insulin resistance than much younger people.
These healthy centenarians also were much more likely to have lower levels of oxidative stress and higher circulating levels of vitamin E. Oxidative stress may increase risk of heart disease, and vice versa.
Does vitamin E help manage that? Scientists aren't sure, but they say it may be worth a try.

Another Weight Loss Tip!
Log on to keep pounds off. A Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Research study showed that when users logged on regularly (onto a weight-management website) for 2 1/2 years to record their weight or their diet, they maintained an average of 9 pounds from their original 19-pound loss. The study showed the longer you use a weight-management website, the more weight you will keep off. The less you use one, the less you will keep off.

Easy Weight Loss Tip - Get Good Sleep
Too little sleep may actually keep body fat in place, according to research from the University of Chicago.
The study showed dieters who slept 8.5 hours during one period and 5.5 during another lost about the same amount of weight (just under 7 pounds), but the composition was different: When they slept more, they took off body fat; when they slept less, they lost more muscle mass.
During less-sleep time, participants also felt hungrier and had higher levels of gherlin in their blood (an appetite-stimulating hormone). Sleep experts say most adults need seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

4 Ways to prevent a STROKE
Here's some good information I ran across the other day...
Every 40 seconds, someone in the USA has a stroke; about every four minutes, someone dies from one. If you stop smoking, cut your sodium intake and keep your weight, blood pressure and blood sugar in check, you reduce your risk. Here are four more tips, based on the latest research:
1. Pay attention to heart palpitations. Especially if the flutters are accompanied by shortness of breath, lightheadedness and chest pain. A new study in the journal Circulation suggests about half of atrial fibrillation (AF) cases could be prevented by curbing heart risk factors such as obesity and smoking.
2. Eat more raisins. And bananas, beans and sweet potatoes, which are loaded with potassium. A diet rich in such foods may reduce stroke risk by more than 20%.
3. Walk 20 minutes a day. It'll cut your risk of stroke by 30%, according to a large study of nearly 40,000 women over a 12-year period. Walk briskly and your chances are cut by almost 40%. The link applies only to women; studies of men have been inconsistent.
4. Get your eyes checked. A new study found that retinal vein occlusion (RVO), an eye disease that afflicts aout 180,000 people each year, nearly doubles your chance of stroke. RVO occurs when the small veins that carry blood away from the retina become blocked; atherosclerosis, diabetes and high blood pressure raise your risk.

Three Ways to Make Your Lunch Hour Healthier
Now that you are taking your R&D Diet Cookies with you and eating them throughout the day, you have a free hour to deal with (i.e. "lunch"). Here are 3 ways to make your lunch hour healthier and more fun!
1. Bring your hobby to work. Find out if any of your coworkers like to knit, read books or play cards, and commandeer a conference room or break table for a weekly get-together.
2. Volunteer. Many organizations would be happy to put you to work for just an hour at a time. Call schools, churches, hospitals and other non-profits like the local no-kill animal shelter, or check out Volunteer Match to see what the needs are near your workplace.
3. Lunch and Learn. Plug in to an educational podcast, like Radio Lingua's free 20-minute language lessons. A recent study at Yourk University in Toronto found that being bilingual may delay the onset of Alzheimer's.

True or False: Eating honey from your hometown will help fend off seasonal allergies.
False! Eating honey containing local pollens will not increase your tolerance for the allergens, say experts at the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. In fact, if you're especially sensitive, eating raw honey could cause a severe reaction.

True or False: An Obese Person Can be Fit and Healthy
True. While fitness and fatness are usually inversely correlated, several studies have shown that many active individuals can maintain good health regardless of body weight.
There is also evidence that a large number of these obese individuals do not suffer from a defective metabolism from their extra weight that might be expected, and a large number of lean individuals do suffer such health problems.

True or False: You Lose More Weight Doing Exercise You are Good At
False. People become more efficient and expend less energy as they become experienced with a particular form of exercise. A fit, experienced runner requires less energy to cover a set distance than an unfit individual of the same weight, age and gender.
Weight loss requires excess energy expenditure, which comes more from activities with which an individual is not so familiar.

True or False: The Best Measure of Bady Fat is Body Mass Index (BMI)
False. BMI is not well validated as a measure of body fat at the individual level. Body mass index is less accurate in muscular men, some ethnic groups, and the elderly. This can lead to unrealistic weight goals.

True or False: Weight Lifting is Good For Fat Loss
True. Any form of exercise involving energy expenditure has benefit for weight loss. Weight lifting is often underrated and considered only for the development of strength or size. But when large muscle groups are used or when using light weights at high repetitions, weight lifting is effective for muscle strengtheningas well as weight loss .

True or False: Swimming is Better than Walking for Weight Loss
False. In general, the best exercises for weight loss are those that are weight bearing, such as walking or jogging. Up to 30% less energy is used in weight supported activities such as swimming or cycling. Also, because fat floats, an obese individual is likely to use even less energy while swimming compared to a lean individual.

True or False: Exercise is Better Than Dieting For Weight Loss
False. It is easier to reduce calorie intake by a given amount (e.g. by 1000 calories/day) than to burn the same amount of calories in exercise. For this reason, restriction of food intake (‘dieting’) is more likely to be successful in the early stages of a weight loss program. Exercise may be more important than dieting in the maintenance stage after effective weight loss.

True or False: Humans Need Eight Glasses (of 8 oz.) of Water per Day
False. First of all 8 oz. is only 1 measuring cup and I don’t think 1-cup size glasses are made any more. Your most conservative kitchen glass will hold about 2 cups so now “8 glasses” has become “4 glasses”.
Fluid needs are dependent on a range of factors including age, gender, climate, activity level and disease state, and vary from about 2 glasses (16 oz.) to 17 glasses (136 oz.). The suggested eight “glasses” a day, while widely quoted by health professionals and the public alike, is no more of a guide than six, or 10, or 12 glasses.

True or False: Chocolate is Healthy Provided it is ‘Dark’
False. Since the antioxidant effects of cocoa were discovered, there has been over a decade of research on the health benefits of dark chocolate. Cocoa is high in bitter tasting flavonoids which are the prime source of these antioxidants. Most chocolate manufacturers extract these bitter flavonoids in order to improve taste. However, there are no labeling law requirements to inform the consumer of this. Sugar, which can reduce the benefits of cocoa, is also added to improve the taste. Therefore, while genuine dark chocolate has health benefits, chocolate that is simply labeled ‘dark’, does not necessarily have these benefits.

How To Lose 50 Pounds Fast
To lose 50 pounds is never an easy thing to do. But people have done it before you, so it’s entirely within your power. I say this only to be honest with you: you have to be committed to the plan, but you can succeed if you set your mind to it. I can only suggest a way in which you can do it.
To lose 50 pounds fast, you need a diet which will provide a fast and continuous weight loss. Fast because you want to get thin as soon as possible, continuous because it takes time to lose 50 pounds. To do so, you need a diet which will work in the long term and not just in the short term. That’s why you need to be extra careful when choosing a diet to follow, it has to be one you can follow more than a couple of weeks
To lose 50 lbs as fast as possible, I recommend 2 tools: the best cookie diet: R&D Diet Cookie and a computer program called DietPower. Why do I make this recommendation? Because the R&D Diet Cookie will eliminate hunger and cravings so that you can stay on a low calorie diet and the computer program DietPower is a great program for calorie counting and nutrient tracking. It also monitors your metabolism to guarantee reaching your goal weight on your target date, and even recommends foods you like that are best for your nutrition—all in five minutes a day. It's a very good tool for weight loss and nutrition.
How does this diet work? On the R&D Diet Cookie Program you eat about 6 of the hunger-fighting high protein/fiber/whole grain cookies throughout the day and a sensible, low-calorie dinner. Each day you enter the foods you eat and any exercise into the DietPower Program. It’s actually fun and very motivating to monitor your weight loss success this way.
How much can you lose with this diet? It really depends on your starting weight and a lot of other factors like how strictly you stay true to the plan. If you are very overweight and you stick to the plan, you could lose 50 pounds in as little as 4 months which is very impressive.
I hope I’ve given you something to consider when you ask yourself how to lose 50 pounds fast. I wish you the best of luck.
What Does 4000 Calories Look Like?
The average American consumes almost 4,000 calories every day! That’s anywhere from 1500 to 2500 more calories than the average man or woman really needs (children and athletes have different needs).
All these calories are adding fat to our body, increasing the pressure on our heart, and stressing our organs (not to mention the environmental impact of all this gluttony).
But why are we eating so much? And what are we eating? You may be surprised to really see just how easy it is to eat 4000 calories in one day! Here is a sample…
Breakfast: How about McDonald’s? That’s a typical choice for millions of Americans every day.
To be an average American, you need to eat at least 700 calories and up to 1300 calories at each setting. McDonald’s can help you with that. Another tip: it helps to drink your calories, so remember to wash it all down with a big slosh of soda or juice! Or a nice venti caffe mocha (360 calories) will do the trick.
Bacon n egg biscuit sandwich – 460 calories
Hash browns – 160 calories
Large coke – 320 calories
Total breakfast calories - 940
Lunch: I know Burger King is bad. I’ll go for Subway. Subway is fresh, so I’m sure whatever I eat there is going to be good, right?
Well, maybe if you get a 6″ whole-grain sandwich with vegetables or a salad. But according to Subway, the most popular Subway item in the world is the toasted steak and cheese sandwich.
Toasted Steak and Cheese sandwich - 400
Chips - 290
Large coke – 320
Total lunch calories – 1010 (total for the day so far = 1950)
Dinner: Pizza and burgers are beloved American foods. But let’s stop for a burger…
Burger King double whopper – 1020
Large fries – 540
Large coke – 320
Total dinner calories – 1880 (total for the day so far= 3840)
We are at 3840 calories for the day and we haven’t even added in any snacks or office birthday party cake! I’m not saying we eat this way EVERY DAY… but it doesn’t seem that far-fetched!
It’s sad that the most famous American foods – pie, burgers, pizza, hot dogs, French fries – are all JUNK foods!
I thought it would be a little bit of a challenge to eat 4,000 calories, but thanks to the vast majority of what’s available at every restaurant these days, it’s actually pretty hard not to consume twice as many calories as you need – and that’s the whole problem. It shouldn’t require a degree in nutrition or hours of online research to know what’s reasonable to eat and what isn’t. Stopping in at Subway to eat lunch shouldn’t be an obesity challenge!
We have to… MUST… get away from this “three meals a day” idea. Our meals have to … MUST… be smaller and healthier. Get away from processed foods and eat more whole grains and home-cooked foods. The R&D Diet Cookie is the best cookie diet to help you there. Start your days with the cookie… 2 or 3 will get you going. Have them for lunch or have them as between meal snacks. They will help you make better food choices for your other meals and you can reduce the number of calories you eat without being hungry or craving.
What do you eat in a day? Tell us!
Daily Calorie Calculation
I found a great tool…
Take your body weight, divide it by 2.2 (which will equal your weight in kilograms)…. Then multiply by 30. This will give you the results of how many calories you are consuming to maintain that amount of weight.
Here’s the formula… weight X 30 = Calories
2.2
Results?
In order to maintain your weight, you have to be consuming that number result in calories on a regular basis.
For example… let’s say you weigh 250 lbs. 250 lbs / 2.2 X 30 = 3409 calories you are eating daily in order to maintain your 250 lbs in weight.
Now let’s use the same calculation another way…
Take the weight you want to weigh and divide it by 2.2 then multiply that number by 30. This will give you the number of calories you have to eat in order to weigh what you want to weigh.
For example… let’s say you want to weigh 180 lbs: 180 lbs / 2.2 X 30 = 2455 calories you need to eat in order to weigh 180 lbs.
R&D Diet Cookies can help you reach your goal weight. You can do it slowly or quickly… it is entirely up to you. Concentrate on your goal daily calories and let the R&D Diet Cookies take away hunger and cravings so that you can stay below your dally calorie goal! Another tool that may help you is a computer program called DietPower.
DietPower® is the only weight-loss program that guarantees reaching your goal weight on your target date. Completely science-based, it turns your PC into a private "coach" revealing your intake of 33 vital nutrients as you log your meals. It also tracks exercise, analyzes recipes, brings you daily news and inspiration, and lets you meet other dieters. It works with any diet or supplement. It works very well with the R&D Diet Cookie Program and it's a snap to use. Shape magazine rated it "4 Stars!" Runner's World declared it "The Ultimate." It comes with a one-year, no hassle, money-back guarantee.
Benefits of Flexibility Training (Stretching)
Flexibility is a joint's ability to move through a full range of motion. The old saying, “Use it or lose it” is quite true when it comes to flexibility. As we get older we significantly lose flexibility and balance if we do not routinely use it. Here are many benefits that result from a good flexibility program.
1. Improved Posture Stretching improves muscular balance and posture. Flexibility training can improve and possible reverse the effects of gravity or poor posture. Stretching can help realign soft tissue structures, thus reducing the effort it takes to achieve and maintain good posture in the activities of daily living.
2. Reduced Risk of Low Back Pain Stretching reduces the risk of low back pain. Stretching promotes muscular relaxation. A muscle in constant contraction requires more energy to accomplish activities. Flexibility in the hamstrings, hip flexors, quadriceps, and other muscles attached to the pelvis reduces stress to the low back.
3. Increased Blood and Nutrients to Tissues Another great benefit is that stretching increases blood supply and nutrients to joint structures. This allows greater elasticity of surrounding. Stretching also increases joint synovial fluid, which is a lubricating fluid that promotes the transport of more nutrients to the joints' cartilage. This allows a greater range of motion and reduces joint degeneration.
4. Enhanced Enjoyment of Physical Activities Flexibility training also means enhanced enjoyment, and a fitness program should be fun if you want to stick with it. Not only does stretching decrease muscle soreness and increase flexibility, it also helps relax both mind and body and brings a heightened sense of well-being and personal gratification.
Flexibility training should be a part of your exercise routine since it provides many important benefits that cannot be achieved by any other exercise or activity. The training does not have to take a lot of time to be effective and successful. I personally perform a 15 minute yoga-type flexibility routine each morning. I started it in my 50’s after I noticed a significant loss in both flexibility and balance. Within two weeks I noticed a drastic improvement which motivates me to continue.
Good luck: I hope you enjoy all the wonderful benefits of an effective flexibility program.

Live a Longer and Healthier Life
You should balance your activities with the proper amount of rest. Some of the leading experts in the field of aging now believe that regular exercise along with the proper amount of rest may actually add years to the life span. Results from a number of tests indicate that speed and muscular strength of many of the elderly can be extended.
Leading authorities agree that this new data is going to shatter many of the myths about aging and physical performance. The conclusion now is that the performance and ability of the elderly has long been underestimated, diet, proper sleep and exercise along with rest and relaxation are all important factors in preserving our bodies.
Laughter is one of the best things for your mental and physical state. People are naturally attracted to someone who has a good sense of humor. You can develop a good outlook and a good sense of humor by associating with and surrounding yourself with pleasant happy people.
Recognize that stress is a killer. A life filled with stress can really wreak havoc on your body causing a number of illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, asthma, gastric problems, menstrual disorders, ulcerative colitis, angina, irritable colon, increased blood pressure, ulcers, headaches, etc.
There are different types of stress such as mental, emotional and physical. Emotional stress seems to take the greatest toll on everyone. All stress is not bad; in fact, life would not be very interesting if it were not met with challenges. However, too much stress, too often with no effective and appropriate outlet, does not allow the body and soul to recuperate. You might review a typical week to see if you can identify things that might be making you anxious or causing you stress. Once identified, stressors can be attacked and eliminated.
Are you a worrier? Chronic worriers don't have more serious problems than others - they just think they do. Many worriers try to cope by trying not to think about their problems, but this just makes things worse. Doctors say that chronic worriers feel less anxious if they actually spend a half-hour a day thinking specifically about their problems.
Get plenty of exercise. People who are physically fit look good and feel good. A good exercise regimen will lengthen your life. Improve your appearance, build self-confidence and help delay the aging process.
Remember that you need to do something physical every day. If you don't use your joints, quite simply they'll tighten up with age to create the stooped, bent and worn out appearance we so often associate with old age. Studies have shown that people with arthritis experience less pain if they continue to keep their joints flexible. As one gets older, the bones tend to get brittle which is why it is common for senior citizens to break bones and especially their hips when they fall.
Eating right, getting proper sleep and learning to relax are all very valuable in maintaining a healthy body and mind. And keep in mind that eating healthy foods and avoiding those high in fats, sodium and cholesterol will help to decrease your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and associated problems. Also remember to incorporate the R&D Diet Cookie into your lifestyle to help you maintain a healthy weight for you!

Get Fit on a Shoestring Budget
Aside from all the health benefits of exercise, a good exercise program can also help you save money and possibly make more money....and you can implement an effective, comprehensive exercise program with very little expense.
Research has demonstrated that people who exercise on a regular basis save thousands of dollars in medical expenses over a lifetime. Because exercise improves your immune system, exercisers usually experience fewer colds and other respiratory infections and thus have fewer "down days" and doctor bills. Exercisers also have fewer sprains and strains, and the incidence of heart attacks, strokes, and certain cancers is lower in exercisers!
Exercise also increases mental acuity, reduces fatigue, and improves the quality of sleep...leading to improved productivity and thus more income for many people.
A comprehensive exercise program consists of two components; aerobic and anaerobic. They work together to give you all the benefits you can derive from an exercise program.
1. Aerobic exercise refers to exercises like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, aerobic dance, outdoor cycling, stationary cycling, rowing, stair climbing, etc. The benefits of aerobic exercise are numerous including increased caloric expenditure, increased metabolism, increased energy levels, decreased incidence of cardiovascular disease, etc.
The simplest, most liked, and usually least expensive of these is walking. Or, If you already have the required equipment such as a rower or stationary cycle, or access to a swimming pool, these would also be inexpensive options.
I recommend doing some form of aerobic exercise on a daily basis, preferably first thing in the morning.
2. Anaerobic exercise is the second component of a comprehensive exercise program and refers primarily to resistance exercise like weight training to tone and strengthen your muscles. Weight training is loaded with benefits such as increased metabolism, improved appearance, increased fat burning 24 hours a day, increased sense of well-being and confidence, decreased incidence of osteoporosis, etc....
Weight training can be done at home. For less than $20 you can usually buy the dumbbells (small weights) needed for an effective home weight training program. You should weight train three days per week.
My experience over the years is that most people try to "buy" a successful exercise program....they believe that if they "buy" the "latest and greatest" exercise gadget or if they "buy" the magical new supplements that burn five pounds of fat a day, or if they "buy" a health club membership, they can achieve their exercise goals. The fact is that an effective, comprehensive exercise program can be implemented with very little, or no, expense! Get started!

True or False: Fruit Juice is About as Fattening as Beer
True. In terms of energy content (calories), same size servings of fruit juice and beer are roughly the same. Since alcohol cannot e stored in the body, and is never directly converted to fat, any fattening effect of alcohol is dependent on other factors. The description 'beer belly' is really more of a 'beer plus food and drink' belly. Therefore, fruit juice is as potentially fattening as beer.

True or False: Dairy Products Can Help Weight Loss
True. The accuracy of this statement remains controversial. There is a common belief that all dairy products cause weight gain probably because of the fat content of most natural dairy products. However, recent research shows an inverse link between low fat dairy intake and body weight. There are indications that certain dairy ingredients (e.g. Whey protein) and ingredient combinations (eg. Protein/calcium) can have a positive effect on toward a feeling of fullness, as well as other weight loss factors, which may assist weight loss. This is only one of the reasons the R&D Diet Cookie is effective at helping you lose weight.

True or False: A Low Protein Diet is Best for Weight Loss
False. While any ‘diet’ is dependent mainly on energy ‘volume’ (calories) and is, to a large extent, independent of specific nutrients beyond their calorie contribution, there are other advantages of some nutrients. Protein can have a satiating effect so a reasonable intake of protein is likely to be better for weight loss than a low protein diet. The R&D Diet Cookie is packed full of the best quality, most effective proteins so here is just another reason they will help you lose weight.
